My name is Gahtsang Tso and I am 18 years old. My family lives in Nangqian County. There are five children in my family, and I am the oldest. My four younger brothers and sisters are currently in middle school. We are a low income family, and my mom and dad are unemployed because they never attended school. My family's main source of income is foraging the yartsa gunbu herb. My mom and dad are not educated, but they always insist that we should obtain education if we can. I went to elementary school but I was sick all the time. Later I started middle school, but my health kept deteriorating, and the doctors in the county clinic couldn’t figure out why. My family didn’t have enough money for me to go to Xining to see a doctor, so I dropped out of middle school and never got to finish it. After a couple of years, my relatives recommended me to the Cixing school in Nangqian County. I came here to continue my study, and I chose the Tibetan language major. I want to be a Tibetan language teacher in the future.
